The secret behind finding your niche on LinkedIn

When I first started posting on LinkedIn, I thought I needed to fit into a specific mould: sound “professional,” only post industry-specific insights, and avoid anything that felt too personal.
I spent hours analysing what others in my field were doing, trying to replicate their formula for success. But the more I tried to be like someone else, the less engaging my posts became.
Something was missing.
And that missing piece? It was me.
I found my Niche by being myself.
One day, I decided to take a different approach. I shared a story about my journey, my stories, my failures, and successes that shaped my career. It was raw, honest, and unapologetically me.

To my surprise, that post gained more traction than anything I had ever shared before. It sparked conversations, brought in connection requests from like-minded professionals, and even opened up new opportunities.
Because people connected with my story, not just my expertise.
On LinkedIn, there’s a common misconception that finding your niche means limiting yourself to a narrow, predefined topic. While having a focus is important, your niche isn’t just a topic, it’s you: your experiences, your values, and your unique perspective on the world.
Your niche is what happens when your expertise meets your personality. It’s how you apply your knowledge to real-life situations, the way you tell your story, and the connections you make through shared experiences.
How I did it?
Instead of trying to sound like an extract from "Marketing for Dummies", I started infusing my posts with personality. What excites me, what challenges me, and what drives me to keep pushing forward.
I talked about the lessons I’ve learned, not just the wins but the mistakes too. And I discovered something powerful: authenticity resonates.

People don’t just want to know what you do; they want to know why you do it, how you think, and what makes you, you.
So, if you’re struggling to find your niche or make an impact on LinkedIn, my advice is simple: stop chasing perfection, and start showing up as yourself.
Be proud of your expertise, but don’t be afraid to let your personality shine through. Share your journey, your passion, and the values that guide you.
That’s how you’ll connect with people who truly align with your vision, and who knows? You might just inspire someone else to do the same.
Your niche isn’t about fitting into a mould; it’s about breaking out of one. It’s about finding your voice and using it to share your unique perspective with the world.
Because when you’re authentically you, the right people will notice and they’ll stick around.
